Homiletics II: The Conquest of Unconscious Sins, January 7, 1904

A note taped to the first page of this essay says, “Has story of the Golden Dog.” This story concerns the fate of a man, Philibert, who had been a member of the court of Louis XIV, but was expelled for his unwillingness “to submit to the degrading influences of court life.” He was banished to New France and made a new successful life in Quebec where the Golden Dog makes its appearance.
