Evidently the “Gentleman in a Duster,” in addition to writing The Mirrors of Downing Street and the Mirrors of Washington, wrote a more general reflection on the state of politics and culture, the Glass of Fashion: Some Social Reflections. Nearly all of the material in Earl Davis’ notes are quotations from the book that Earl Davis transcribed.
