Especially in the 21st century, it is incredibly important for all students to be able to navigate all of the technology that is available to them in their education. Most students comfortably know how to use a smart phone, but for many students in Main South, these phones replace a family computer. Thus, many students can only access full desktop or laptop computers at school or at the library.
Whenever possible, I have tried to weave in lessons in effective and appropriate use of computers and related technology. Whether by guiding 10th grade students through the process of doing internet research, to showing 7th and 8th grade students how to save their work using OneDrive, my goal is for all of my students to feel comfortable using computers and other technology in their academic careers. Being able to effectively use technology will be an asset to each student as they transition to college or other endeavors post-high-school.
