For this project the students developed an assessment tool for Ascentria Care Alliance, a social service agency in Worcester MA, to measure their refugee clients’ progress in integrating into the United States during the resettlement process. In order to design an effective assessment tool the authors developed an understanding of the clients’ resettlement experiences, identified a definition of success, and identified key indicators that contribute to successful integration.

Project objectives included identifying fundraising priorities, improving event operations, analyzing potential fundraising campaigns, and implementing the fundraising operations plan. The plan will help the organization efficiently develop and implement current and new fundraising campaigns.

Description:  This report offers a profile of Worcester’s foreign-born population and points out their unique challenges and contributions to the city. It utilizes data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s 5-year 2009-2013 American Community Survey (ACS) and Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS). In order to provide a broader context for the profile, qualitative interviews with four Worcester based service providers were conducted. The report also provides an analysis of the impact the children of the foreign-born have on the public education system.
