This study seeks to identify ways the downtown Worcester YMCA can reach out to new immigrants and refugees to the city. Data was gathered mainly through user surveys, interviews, and focus groups. The authors conclude with a number of recommendations on how to reach new immigrants and refugees to Worcester including offering global sports such as soccer and sepak tekraw, exporting YMCA services to immigrant and refugee organizations to engage new residents where they gather, providing transportation and providing services for refugees and immigrants at the YMCA.

For this project the students developed an assessment tool for Ascentria Care Alliance, a social service agency in Worcester MA, to measure their refugee clients’ progress in integrating into the United States during the resettlement process. In order to design an effective assessment tool the authors developed an understanding of the clients’ resettlement experiences, identified a definition of success, and identified key indicators that contribute to successful integration.

Project objectives included identifying fundraising priorities, improving event operations, analyzing potential fundraising campaigns, and implementing the fundraising operations plan. The plan will help the organization efficiently develop and implement current and new fundraising campaigns.

For this project the students developed a new website for the Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW), a nonprofit federally funded health center. The report includes the methodology used, prototypes developed, and the redesigned website.  The new website better reflects FHCW’s mission and provides necessary information and tools for patients, especially those who speak languages other than English and those patients with limited computer skills.
