For this project the students developed an assessment tool for Ascentria Care Alliance, a social service agency in Worcester MA, to measure their refugee clients’ progress in integrating into the United States during the resettlement process. In order to design an effective assessment tool the authors developed an understanding of the clients’ resettlement experiences, identified a definition of success, and identified key indicators that contribute to successful integration.

For this project the students developed a yearly fundraising operational plan for the African Community Education Program (ACE) to help increase and stabilize their funding. Project objectives included identifying fundraising priorities, improving event operations, analyzing potential fundraising campaigns, and implementing the fundraising operations plan. The plan will help the organization efficiently develop and implement current and new fundraising campaigns.

Themes that surfaced during interviews and discussions included immigrant and refugee mobility, language barriers, ESL and job placement and organization’s funding needs and uncertain futures.

For this project the students developed a new website for the Family Health Center of Worcester (FHCW), a nonprofit federally funded health center. The report includes the methodology used, prototypes developed, and the redesigned website.  The new website better reflects FHCW’s mission and provides necessary information and tools for patients, especially those who speak languages other than English and those patients with limited computer skills.
