Rationale:
 The essential question gets at the underlying concepts of natural selection, biodiversity in nature, and evidence of evolution. The goals reflect the checkpoints that I want to reach in terms of introducing concepts and my curricular goals for the semester. The essential questions  will allow me to explore these ideas through a range of activities including games, dissections, and projects.
