Performance Assessments

  1. Participation/Formative Assessments – How are students participating in class? Are students completing lab work effectively? How do you measure confidence with the material? Are students working well in groups?
    1. Informal assessments: exit slips, class discussions, silent chalk talk, entries in science notebooks.
  2. Students will have an introduction to the unit at the beginning and also a preview of the concepts at the time. There will be a pre-assessment to gauge the differentiation needed. In each of the lessons, there will be time connect back and elaborate on the major unit terms and concepts.
  3. Lectures, labs, projects, and a quiz will provide the bulk of the activities and provide data on progress.
  4. Practice with Punnett squares and a lab involving crosses will be the key activity in this unit.
