Assessments: The formative assessments that I will be using include notes in their science notebooks. Further, I will use activities that help students simulate the concepts of adaptations, natural selection, and evolution.
The summative assessments will include a research project and a lab report for a chicken wing dissection.
I will check for understanding before moving on. I will be specific in instructions to help students know what they have to do at a given time in the class.
Students will be able to keep track of their progress through Engrade, notebook checks, and returned work. I will provide rubrics for the big assignments and disclose how many points an input is worth. I will use informal check-ins at the end of class and during transitions to see where people are.
