Esther L. Jones is Associate Professor of English and the E. Franklin Frazier Chair of African American Literature, Theory, and Culture at Clark University. Her research specializations include medical humanities, black speculative and science fiction, black women’s literature, and black diaspora literature. She regularly teaches survey courses on African American literature from the colonial period to the contemporary era; black feminist/womanist theory; medicine and bioethics in literature; and political literary movements in the African American tradition. She currently serves as the inaugural director of Clark University’s Africana Studies program.
