Round #1 – Spanish 5- Period 6

nafta copy

My first round was at the end of my initial unit on Mexico. This lesson was a review of what we had learned thus far on NAFTA both content and vocabulary-wise It also served as a natural point for reviewing comparative and superlative forms. This lesson was a brief review, a glimpse into future lessons, and a review game to synthesize the information the students had learned up until that point.

We learned about the EZLN, and created slogans for their opinions on NAFTA as well as the perspectives of the signing countries, reviewed comparatives and superlatives, and played a game that reinforced both the historical and grammatical content learned.

Round #2 -Spanish 3- Period 3

expo-lucha-libre

In my second round students reviewed much of the vocabulary and content they had learned about sports. Students participated in a group activity / competition effectively and collaboratively, using their new sports vocabulary and action verbs. Students were able to use their notes, new knowledge, and cross-disciplinary knowledge to collaboratively solve the stages of the Amazing Race game. At the end of the review students were asked to express their personalities through the design and naming of a new “luchador” persona which later became a larger project and culminated with the design of a mask.

FOODDESERTS

My final round was during our food unit. This lesson was a review of some of the vocabulary and topics we had covered towards the end of this food unit. This unit also served as a natural point for reviewing conjugation which was an issue with most students. This lesson was a brief review of the topic of food deserts, which we were not able to finish the day before the round, and a review activity (a game to synthesize the food vocabulary we have learned up until this point)
