This is a list of strategies that I use in our classroom to work to break down barriers.
- I provide visuals for ELL students and students who are on an IEP.
- I differentiate my lessons and always have a “challenge” at the end for students who finish early.
- I listen to my students on their opinions on the work we do, and change if they express hatred toward something. I prioritize student learning.
- I give students opportunities to ask as many question as they want, especially during our read-aloud part of the day.
- I do turn-and-talks for students who do not feel comfortable speaking in front of the whole class.
