The student work below is primarily from our fourth and fifth lessons. <\/p>\n

Lesson Four<\/h4>\n

During our fourth lesson, students demonstrated their understanding of the three major climate zones by labeling, writing, and drawing. Students primarily met these<\/p>\n

Words<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\r\n\r\nThe first image shows that a student wrote a sentence for each climate. They wrote \u201cpolar is cod and shivering (Polar is cold and shivering)\u201d, \u201cTemperate is woom and cod (Temperate is warm and cold)\u201d, and \u201cTropical is vere hot (Tropical is very hot)\u201d. \r\n\r\nThe second image shows a student who did not write sentences. Instead, they listed the weather vocabulary we learned earlier in this unit. Under polar they wrote \u201cCold, snow\u201d, under temperate they wrote \u201cpartly cloudy\u201d, and under tropical they wrote \u201chot, sun\u201d. Both students use their words to demonstrate their comprehension but to differing levels of complexity. \r\n<\/pre>\n
Pictures<\/strong><\/span>\r\n\r\n\"\"<\/a>\r\n\r\nI<\/span>n the image above, you can see that this student has drawn both the appropriate clothing for each zone, but has drawn the weather occurring in that zone, such as the sun in the tropical zone and snow in the polar zone. This work provides evidence that this student understands the climate of each zone.<\/span><\/pre>\n
Labels<\/strong>\r\n\r\n\"\"<\/a>\r\n\r\nThis work demonstrates an understanding of the temperature of different climate zones because each label is appropriate for the weather in the climate zone during April. This student was unable to complete their work before being pulled out for services, but based on our conversations, I'm confident that they would correctly label the Tropical Zone. <\/pre>\n
Lesson five<\/h5>\n
During our fifth lesson, students worked with partners to develop a poster about Worcester’s climate during different seasons of the year. <\/p>\n
 \"\"<\/a>\r\nThe student work shown above reads \"During the spring Worcester is suny (sunny). You should wear tsnirl because is sunny. You might want to bring swcatshirt because becus it gets cold\" which translates to \"During the spring Worcester is sunny. You should wear a t-shirt because it is sunny. You might want to bring a sweatshirt because it gets cold\". This demonstrates that these students understand the nuances of climate being a pattern over time and weather being one time events. It also demonstrates that students have a good understanding of what clothing is appropriate for the spring in Worcester.<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
