This is a great example of a student who worked really hard on this project. This student committed to the artistic section of the project, and was very creative with the symbols they chose for each prompt. In the explanation, this student displays a clear understanding of the play’s plot some of the figurative language and symbols we discussed. For example, the student writes that they chose a sun for a symbol because “that is how Romeo views her,” citing the famous line, “It is the East, and Juliet is the sun.” Although this student could have expanded more on this, we had been tracking the symbolism of light vs. dark and night vs. day in the play, and I was happy to see evidence from class conversations in this project.
This is an example from the Glee Project that I was really pleased with. The student explained the circumstances of the scene with evidence from the text and drew a comparison to the song, also using a quote from the song. A major focus of this unit was using evidence from the text and embedding it cohesively into writing, which is done very well in this example.
