This is a sample from one student’s “Adolescence in Media” mini project. From this sample, it is clear that the student understands the stereotype about adolescents being controlled by raging hormones completely. She touches on both the romantic obsession as well as the mood swings that are characteristic of this stereotype. The student also uses evidence from the text that directly relates to her example. I was really pleased with this student’s response to the prompt!
This student’s response to the questions are clear and concise, even if she did not meet the length requirement to the second prompt. The underlying belief behind most of the stereotypes we have been working with is that adolescents have far less individuality than adults, and are not capable of being critical thinkers or developing informed beliefs. This students’ last sentence shows that she has completely grasped this concept.
