Welcome to my ePortfolio!

This eFolio documents a year of transformation in my teaching style, strategies, and philosophy.  My MAT year was a year like no other — against the background of a global pandemic and social unease, I forged deep connections with students through a screen and cultivated my teaching to fit the current moment, developed units that encouraged critical thinking and gave opportunities for students to share their opinions and express themselves creatively, and collaborated with experienced mentors from both Clark University and Jacob Hiatt Magnet School, from whom I had much to learn.

Though I never expected my “classroom” in my first year of teaching to be a small, wobbly desk shoved in the corner of my bedroom, I began the year with enthusiasm — I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time.  I began this year with a lot of ideas for lesson plans and community building exercises in a remote setting.  Over the course of the practicum, I implemented, reflected on, and refined these ideas in order to best suit my students, their learning styles and capabilities, and the tools available to the class.  As we moved from a fully remote to a hybrid model, I continued to reimagine and redevelop strategies for making content accessible and fun for my fourth grade students.  I am proud of the progress I have made this year towards becoming the teacher I have always wanted to be — dynamic, resilient, responsive, and kind.
