{"id":272,"date":"2018-11-12T12:31:51","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T17:31:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/eportfolio-sample\/?page_id=272"},"modified":"2019-05-05T13:33:53","modified_gmt":"2019-05-05T17:33:53","slug":"references","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-slevy\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-ii-overview\/references\/","title":{"rendered":"References"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For this unit on what it means to be a good engineer through using the design cycle to create a strong and floatable boat, besides my own ideas, there were a few very helpful resources I leaned on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Firstly, a student teacher from a previous year had done a similar unit and it was very helpful to see how she did the unit &#8211; what materials she used, how she framed the entire experience, and what learning outcomes she prioritized.&nbsp;\n<ul>\n<li>She kick-started her unit with a read aloud by Andrea Beaty which I used during my unit also, especially to teach the important part of the design cycle which is failure &#8211; out of failure comes huge learning.
