For this unit on understanding culture, I used a lot of technological tools to enhance the level of engagement for my students as they were able to take on ownership over what they were learning.

I used Google Classroom to set up a classroom for my students where they could access articles on their cultural backgrounds on kid-friendly websites. This was set up with help in large part to a fellow teacher, Annie Cohn who was a very helpful reference.

For the final assignemnt, I used Flipgrid to record the student’s final videos. This way I could access the videos all at once from any internet source, and the students could have fun recording them with each other. I hope to use this resource in future classrooms!

For the articles on culture which I found for my students, I found articles mostly from coolkidfacts.com, kids.nationalgeographic.com, sciencekids.com, and activityvillage.co.uk.
