Welcome to my E-Folio!
This website encapsulates my incredibly growthful year as a student-teacher in a second grade classroom in Worcester, Massachusetts. As a student teacher working toward my Masters in Teaching from Clark University, I had a full-time teaching placement at Jacob Hiatt Magnet School under the mentorship of long-time teacher Mary Quillen. The year has deepened not only my understanding of the second-grade learning experience, but also of the complexlities of public schools in the United States, alongside the socialized experiences of my students, and my role as their teacher. Like any challenging and reward experience, I find myself with more questions than answers, but the difference from the beginning is the type of questions I’m asking. And, moreso than ever, I see the immense impact profound questions can have on our journeys of inquiry as we all figure out how the world works (my second graders and I together).
Thank you to the Masters of Teaching elementary cohort for creating spaces of inquiry to deepen my teaching practice.
Thank you to Mary Quillen, my mentor teacher, for being such an important resource and support throughout this journey.
Thank you to Holly Dolan and Carmen Ocon for being so patient and supportive!
Last, but certainly not least, thank you to my friends who were there for me every day to lend an ear if I needed to process something, and to ease the stress of being a full time teacher and a graduate student. I couldn’t have done it without you.
