{"id":63,"date":"2018-11-12T12:57:31","date_gmt":"2018-11-12T17:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/eportfolio-sample\/?page_id=63"},"modified":"2019-05-04T10:41:24","modified_gmt":"2019-05-04T14:41:24","slug":"performance-assessments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-sawest\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-i-overview\/performance-assessments\/","title":{"rendered":"Performance Assessments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Lesson one: Who is an immigrant?&nbsp; &nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>&nbsp;Formative&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong>-Students will participate in turn and talks to help one another comprehend aspects of the read aloud &#8220;Coming to America&#8221;.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp;-Students will record their questions and attach them to the classroom question board to refer back to through out the unit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Summative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Students will electronically respond to the question, &#8220;Who is an immigrant?&#8221;.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Lesson two: Ellis Island Exploration&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Formative&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;-Students will complete an empathy journal in which students will record the feelings an immigrant passing through Ellis Island and what may have cause such feelings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Summative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Students will complete a letter, written from the perspective&nbsp; of an immigrant who has just completed processing on Ellis Island.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Lesson three: Ellis Island Simulation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Formative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Students will be provided with a &#8220;passport&#8221; full of directions, but more importantly a variety of small activities pertaining to Ellis Island.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Summative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -Students will be asked to complete their simulation with a letter from the perspective of the identity they were provided for the simulation.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Lesson four: No Question Left Unturned&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Formative<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; -As a class we will discuss questions the students have added to the questions board over the past three lessons.
