Students will access the content through a read aloud, an interactive online tour, an Ellis Island simulation, and interview with an immigrant in their current lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">This unit was created by looking at the curriculum <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-sawest\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-i-overview\/curriculum-standards\/\">standards, <\/a>deciding the most <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-sawest\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-i-overview\/understanding-goals\/\">rationale<\/a> way to reach every student, and identifying student <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-sawest\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-i-overview\/pedagogy\/\">readiness and needs<\/a> . From there the learning <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-sawest\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-i-overview\/learning-activities\/\">goals<\/a> were created, <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat19-sawest\/learning-teaching-portraits\/portrait-i-overview\/performance-assessments\/\">assessed<\/a> and then met through hands on activities with many opportunities to practice.
