During this unit the students will go in depth into the experience of immigrants passing through Ellis Island, connect immigration to their own lives and learn about the  immigration process today. Students will access the content through a read aloud, an interactive online tour, an Ellis Island simulation, and interview with an immigrant in their current lives.

This unit was created by looking at the curriculum standards, deciding the most rationale way to reach every student, and identifying student readiness and needs .
