In my classroom, I expected my students to\u00a0be comfortable feeling challenged by art. I expected them to be comfortable working through the difficulties they faced, whether those difficulties were working with new materials, more complex images, etc. Through my support and encouragement I expected students to become confident in their artistic abilities no matter what level they started at. I expected them to take risks in trying new approaches to their work even if they failed at their first attempt, then to feel comfortable trying again.<\/p>\n
I also expected my students to gain strong understandings of the elements and principles of design that I taught. I expected them authentically grasp those concepts to\u00a0make meaning for themselves. That could manifest in the form of students asking for modifications in a project, for example.<\/p>\n
The following pages reiterate the learning goals for two of my units from this past year. There are also images of student work samples and a reflection on how those works\u00a0exemplify student growth (these will be focused on the collage diptychs unit).
