4A.1: Reflective Practice
During the fall CAP meeting, both my university mentor and my mentor teacher granted me ratings of “Proficient” in terms of regularly reflecting on the effectiveness of my teaching. I had attended rounds to observe other M.A.T. candidates’ teachings, consistently sought feedback on lesson planning from peers and mentors, as well as wrote weekly journal reflections on my teaching practice.
Since the fall, I continued to attend other M.A.T. candidate’s rounds, taking information from their teaching to improve mine and also providing them with constructive feedback. I also spent more time seeking feedback from my mentors and peers about my lessons as well as sought feedback from my students to improve my lesson planning for future assignments. My continued weekly journal reflections also included comparisons between my three class periods to further reflect on differentiating instruction based on students’ needs.
