In this unit students learned about realistic fiction, and the role of characters, plot, and the setting within this genre. Students also practiced making predictions about the texts we were reading, and connecting the texts to themselves and other stories we have read. Throughout the unit students also created their own realistic fiction story, beginning with a setting, then a character, and finally a plot. Students ended the unit by creating a story map of their realistic fiction story.
