This unit teaches students about how sound works and what happens when you make a noise. This is important for students who are beginning to understand the basic components of light and sound. This is a standard that they will continue to use and build off of in the future.
This is also a unit full of authentic learning experiences. This unit is an important opportunity to work together to learn something new. Students will have ample opportunities to work together and learn together, building off each other’s ideas and experiences. While not always intended, a lot of learning is done in the same way every day, in math and reading. During science, students will have the opportunity to get up and move around, participating in hands-on experiments. This truly is authentic and meaningful learning.
