{"id":964,"date":"2016-04-17T14:04:06","date_gmt":"2016-04-17T18:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat16-nporcella\/?page_id=964"},"modified":"2016-04-18T12:36:09","modified_gmt":"2016-04-18T16:36:09","slug":"performance-assessments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/mat16-nporcella\/performance-assessments\/","title":{"rendered":"Performance Assessments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The two major forms of assessment during this unit were the weekly performances (scaffolded throughout the week) and the final unit essay.<\/p>\n<h1>Weekly Performances<\/h1>\n<p>Students worked throughout the week to prepare for roles for in-class performances of\u00a0<em>A Streetcar Named Desire<\/em>. I wanted to play into different student strengths, and so I made some roles more writing-intensive, some more artistic\/visualize, and others about acting and moving around. On the other hand, to push students out of their comfort zones, I required that they try out at least three different roles during the six weeks of reading. Mrs. Carlson and I determined that\u00a0<em>all\u00a0<\/em>the junior classes could benefit from more thesis-inspired essay writing, and so I had my juniors write another thesis paper.
