Allegory Activity

Students began thinking about allegory, metaphor, and symbolism when looking at You Don’t Know Me. They brainstormed in groups about what different elements of John’s stories could represent:

Poetry Activity

Students read several poems with related themes to You Don’t Know Me, including “I Felt a Funeral in My Brain” by Emily Dickinson. They were tasked with making connections to the book and also talking about the poems’ meanings:
