It is home to individuals and families from all walks of life and from all sorts of cultural and religious backgrounds, with over 80 different languages spoken in the city alone. University Park Campus School, where I am currently teaching, is in Worcester’s Main South neighborhood. Though the neighborhood is home to more lower-income families and refugees than other parts of Worcester, this neighborhood gets an unnecessarily bad reputation. Main South is a neighborhood full of families, and full of students who are proud of where they come from.

Having grown up in Clinton, one of Worcester’s suburbs, this city has always felt familiar to me, like a second home. Teaching in Worcester, however, has helped me to get to know the city and community on an entirely different level.

Where I live in Main South–with the typical Worcester three-decker apartments!

Welcome to Worcester, MA Considered “the heart of the commonwealth,” Worcester, Massachusetts, is the second largest city in the state.
