Croteau Professor of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\/departments\/economics\/\">Economics<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarku.edu\">Clark University<\/a>, specializing in urban and regional economics. My research focuses on urbanization in China, regional development, entrepreneurship and job creation, high-tech industrial clusters, and racial housing segregation. I hold a B.A. from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruc.edu.cn\">Renmin University of China<\/a> and a Ph.D. in economics from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jhu.edu\">Johns Hopkins University<\/a>. I was a dissertation fellow at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brookings.edu\">Brookings Institution<\/a> from 2000-2001. Before joining Clark University in 2006, I worked as a research fellow at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ppic.org\">Public Policy Institute of California<\/a>. I served as the president of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.china-ces.org\/\">Chinese Economists Society<\/a> (CES) from 2019-2020. I have been an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iza.org\/people\/fellows\/2448\/junfu-zhang\">IZA research fellow<\/a> since 2007. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am the John T.
