When Rahel (Rachel) gives birth to her firstborn son, the naming has multiple meanings:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">She said:<br \/>\nGod has removed\/<em>asaf<\/em><br \/>\nmy reproach [of childlessness].<br \/>\nAnd she called his name: Yosef,<br \/>\nsaying:<strong><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><\/strong>May YHWH add\/<em>yosef<\/em><br \/>\nanother son to me.<\/p>\n<p>Given that in his long and dramatic story, Yosef will be a son both removed and added, that is, lost and found by his family, the naming takes on added significance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a title=\"Principle 7\" href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.clarku.edu\/efox\/resources\/first-time-readers\/principle-7\/\">Principle 7 \u00bb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Names are frequently meant to give clues about their bearers\u2019 personality or fate.
