Plenum Press, NY. 372 pp)<\/p>\n<h2>Solutions<\/h2>\n<h3>Solution A:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>0.8 g silver nitrate<\/li>\n<li>Bring to 4 mL in distilled water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Solution B:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>21 mL 0.36% NaOH<\/li>\n<li>1.4 mL 14.8 M ammonium hydroxide<\/li>\n<li>For best results, make fresh daily<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Solution C:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>add Solution A dropwise to B with constant stirring then bring to 100 mL with distilled water.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #990000;\">NOTE: SOLUTION C MUST BE USED WITHIN 5 MIN<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Solution D:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>2.5 mL 1% citric acid<\/li>\n<li>0.25 mL 37% formaldehyde<\/li>\n<li>Make to 500 mL with distilled water.<\/li>\n<li>SOLUTION D MUST BE &#8220;VERY FRESH&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Misc Solutions:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>#1: 50 % methanol<\/li>\n<li>#2: 5% acetic acid<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2>Protocol<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Soak gel in 50% MeOH at least 60 min<\/li>\n<li>Stain gel in\u00a0<strong>Solution C<\/strong>\u00a0(15 min with gentle agitation)<\/li>\n<li>Wash gel in water (5 min with gentle agitation)<\/li>\n<li>Develop gel in\u00a0<strong>Solution D<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Stop with 5% acetic acid<\/li>\n<li>Wash gel with water and place in 50% MeOH overnight.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(from Dunbar, B.S. 1987.
