Qualitative Methods Consulting

I offer consulting support for researchers, nonprofits, and organizations seeking rigorous, ethical, and meaningful qualitative and mixed-methods research, particularly in work involving children, parents, and families or work involving mental health.

With training as a licensed clinical psychologist and extensive experience in qualitative inquiry, I help teams design and carry out qualitative work that is methodologically sound, funder-ready, and grounded in respect for participants’ lived experiences.

My approach emphasizes qualitative research as a powerful method for understanding complexity, context, and meaning—especially in applied and equity-focused work.

Areas of Expertise

I provide consultation across multiple stages of the research process, including:

  • Qualitative and mixed-methods study design
Support with conceptualizing qualitative components that align with research questions, theory, and funder expectations.
  • Interview and focus group protocol development
Designing developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and ethically grounded protocols for work with children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Analytic framework and coding system development
Guidance on creating rigorous, transparent analytic approaches (e.g., thematic, constructivist, or theory-driven methods).
  • Qualitative rigor and trustworthiness
Support with strategies to strengthen credibility, reflexivity, and analytic transparency for publications, reports, and grant deliverables.
  • Sense-making and reporting for funders and stakeholders
Helping teams translate qualitative findings into clear, compelling narratives that remain faithful to participants’ voices.
  • Training and capacity-building
Workshops or individualized support for research teams seeking to strengthen qualitative skills and shared analytic practices.

Who I Work With

I regularly consult with:

  • Funded research teams and principal investigators
  • Foundations and foundation-funded projects
  • Evaluation and research organizations
  • Education, health, and youth-serving nonprofits

I am especially well-suited to projects that involve sensitive topics, developmental considerations, or equity-focused aims, where methodological care and ethical reflexivity are essential.
