REU
Last modified: September 14, 2010Research in active soft matter seeks a deep understanding of mechanisms underlying processes and cooperative behavior observed in nature and biological systems using mathematical/physical laws to develop models and novel materials.
While the value and impact of such cross-disciplinary activity is increasingly being realized, it has come about based on researchers working across disciplines over a course of a career and often by serendipity. Therefore, it is difficult for an undergraduate training within a discipline to have an overview of this rapidly developing field, besides acquiring the tools and techniques used to do research.
The Active Soft Matter REU will organize a series of activities to bring together students and senior researchers to develop research and training opportunities.
